When I open specific commercial social media and read certain threads, I wonder if they’re full of bots or idiots.
I hope it’s the former, but I fear it’s the latter…

@stefano nothing wrong with idiots. Problem lie with forceably opinionated "expert" idiots... keyboard warrior versions tend to be particulary obnoxious.
@stefano you know my opinion on social media. And for once - I'll be the optimistic one here: it could be worse 😅😅
@stefano It's been my experience for years now that #instagram and #twitter are mostly populated by #bots.
I avoid #meta platforms as much as possible but in the times I have to log in, only bots and #toxic #algorithms are palpable.
#Reddit is marginally better. While there are (valuable) communities populated by real humans, the signal to noise ratio can be quite low. Unfortunately this isn't limited to bots.
@stefano You still have a commercial social media account? 😲
See that’s the problem with the BSDs running so smoothly — you habe to push your stress levels somewhere else. 😎😂😂😂
@Linkshaender I have. I don’t use them that often (some are almost abandoned). Mostly for local information and see news from people I know.
But yes, my presence there has always been extremely low
@stefano @Linkshaender I am keeping just IG, but half of my followings are comedians so my algofeed is funny 😂FB just for VUA and the house building group. Between Mastodon and Bluesky I cover like 90% of the people I used to keep X for.
@stefano That’s a thing a recognised in Italy. Many gastronomic locations are on Facebook only (and Google Maps) and don’t have their own website. Makes asking locals for recommendations even more important IMHO.
@Linkshaender exactly. And official contacts are often via Whatsapp so there's no way to escape meta. The good news is: Whatsapp uses (or used?) FreeBSD.
