The number one worst thing about Apple's liquid glass redesign, for me, is the icons. As someone with astigmatism, those soft edges make me feel like I'm not wearing my glasses. It's excruciating.

The entire design system has accessibility and usability issues, but that's the one that affects me.

@Brendanjones Yes! I only need reading glasses, and I find many of the icons horrible: blurry and non-distinctive. The Safari icon in particular. I have altered settings to make them as opaque as possible, but they are still awful.

And there are new bugs in every app I use.

And the shortcut I made because I needed to do something 20+ times a day has been broken by the update to Liquid Glass — previously, it had kept working fine through several previous main-number updates.

@nolitimere It’s so buggy! I haven’t experienced iOS this buggy in 15+ years of use. Feels like using Android again …

@Brendanjones I’ve always felt that iOS and MacOS had terrible UI in places (iTunes!), and could have massively benefited from some basic testing with actual users. I guess Liquid Glass is just an extreme example of that from a UI point of view. But, yes, at least things used to work almost all of the time. Now, it seems every app I open doesn’t work in some way, or does unexpected things, or doesn’t do expected things. It’s such an attention/cognition drain, and contemptuous of users.

@nolitimere Yup. And loads of small glitches, like you’ll see a flash of the wrong page in an app while navigating through it, or some visual artefact will hang about for a split second. It’s nothing big as a user but it screams ‘breaking changes’ that didn’t get properly tested. Not the quality of development I expect from Apple.
