so it's 2026, and remembering to manually set up message retention for multiple devices is something I should *definitely* have to think about when using an E2EE chat application. #XMPP

@mattj I switched servers due to the initial one I set up shop on being poorly managed. after doing so, messages received by device A (which was online) were not received by device B (which was offline) when device B came back online. I had to do a small research project to rectify this.

love the concept... execution is slightly less awful than it was 10 years ago... that's about all I can say for the platform.

if Delta Chat is afforded sufficient time to get their shit fully together, XMPP is done for. 😐

like, at least we're (well, some percentage of us >50%, maybe) now in OMEMO days and not still being tormented by OTR.
