I was just thinking, it'd be really easy to boycott online services. But with so many mergers, and companies are so big, you never know who owns what anymore.
So I was wondering, have anyone made any kind of web browser extension that lets you list a company and you put in why you don't want to support them and it gets all of that company's holdings, and hell even friends, and when you go to that website it pops up a warning reminding you why you hate them and a list of alternatives to support?
@ozoned libredirect does that to a small degree, redirecting from social media to their free counterparts or wrappers.

@gary_alderson@infosec.exchange Oh got you. Interesting. IDK if ad filtering would work. I just want like a popup, like those annoying cookie pop ups, but it's from a past you reminding you not to give in to the website you're at.
@ozoned I keep running into places using Amazon for shipping. (I shop on a specific business website and place my order. The package is delivered to my house by Amazon.)
It's frustrating and disappointing.
@teresa_athome@mastodon.online right?!? I want to avoid Amazon, but there are companies now that ONLY ship through Amazon. How can we support each other in quitting? How do we all work together to ditch the Big Tech?
We have ad blockers yes, but what if you had an app that just blocked things. You could also clearly show someone when a website breaks that yes, Google, Facebook, Amazon, are EVERYWHERE.
Probably easier said than done though as there's so many servers out there. IDK how you'd block it all. Something like CBS or Netflix shouldn't be too difficult.
@ozoned It would be helpful to have all corporate relationships called out without needing to go down a rabbit hole looking for them.
