We've been rewatching The Secret Life of Us on ABC iView; what a great show that was. Still holds up well, though we've been jokingly talking about creating a Bingo card for elements that tell you it's set in 2001 - Nokia phones, answering machines, cheques, etc.

Why The Secret Life of Us is still winning new fans 25 years on

It was a series that spoke of its time and place, but a quarter-century on The Secret Life of Us still feels relevant and relatable.

@timrichards I remember watching that first time around while I was hanging out in Fitzroy with a social circle of early career surgeons and film makers and writers and artists and software developers. It felt like our lives at the time.

But if I was using a Nokia that year, it was only for the 9.6kbps modem to connect to my Palm so I could download ABC RSS feeds and email and update a couple of databases with the office server, so I could read on the train home.

@emmadavidson I had a Palm back then! I was a very early ebook reader.

@timrichards @emmadavidson I still have a working palm pilot.

Working as in, it boots, not that I use it for anything.

A Palm Tungsten booted up in to the default home screen. It is sitting on a charging cradle.

@david @timrichards I still have my Palm Treo and it still boots. It’s got old databases on it that I built to manage my life admin, they still work.
