Is it possible to embed a player for a song or album on bandwagon.fm in a mastodon post, like it's possible for youtube and bandcamp?

or will it just looks like this:

@benpate I just realized that it's actually possible to embed a song on bandwagon in a mastodon post. But only in the app or in a web-client like @elk
In a "normal" browser it doesn't work...

@joggel @elk

Yeah, it really should be something that more clients support, but most won’t. Really cool that elk will do audio embeds!

In the end, from a compatibility point of view, we probably just need to do videos

@joggel

The short answer is: right now, no.

Most embedding systems work with video, but not audio content. Band camp and Youtube are actually serving video elements, not simple audio, which is why they show up as playable media.

So, it’s theoretically possible for Bandwagon to do the same, but it will require some pretty big updates to how we transcode media, and I haven’t been able to prioritize that work yet.

Does this make sense?
