@VictimOfSimony In large part because there are not "two sides" to issues. Break up the monopolists so they can't own the town square.

@dangillmor this is all true. But honestly it's the Nazis fault they are Nazis.
@dangillmor where does this malpractice tend to happen? Is it that it doesn’t occur to the reporters to go after it? That the higher ups won’t print it? I have a hard time believing that in every large org, there isn’t at least one young guy who literally goes “ceterum censeo” about this kind of thing in every meeting.
@j12t Clearly it's the higher-ups ordering the shitty coverage.
Sir, respectfully, you are old enough to remember the equal time rule. You do realize that the #USCongress abolished it after the #SupremeCourt uphelt it? My generation grew up without equal time because of corporate media who wanted this landscape.
Perhaps a rule requiring corporate outlets to have different political factions get equal prompting in front of users' eyes, so that #YouTube has to allow a #TownSquare and a #MarketplaceOfIdeas ? I want my generation to have their voices heard.
@VictimOfSimony The FCC revoked it, not Congress, which tried to reinstate but was overruled by a veto (Reagan).
No longer enforceable in any case given the millions of publications/channels.
You only have to enforce the top few sites.
@VictimOfSimony What's the cut-off?
"As budgetary constraints allow."
