@dansup i suggests an unusual animal, that stands out and therefor can be clearly remembered associated with loop, when seen. Something kinda cute looking already itself and therefore with positive connotation: Voilá: the South American coati.

With a “loopy” ringed long tail – and its Latin name is kind of a loop and could be spoken equally in most languages:

@dansup I'm going to suggest a loon for the Canadianess and the similarity to the word loops. You could also go for a wolf like a loup.
