Following up the grey matter loss, associating #menopause to Alzheimer's, here's a pretty revealing survey about the sources of stress and pressures experienced by menopausal women in UK society

the Guardian

Survey of over-50s women finds almost two in three struggle with mental health

Of those affected by midlife challenges such as menopause, nine in 10 do not seek help, therapists’ organisation says

@DoomsdaysCW absolutely me too. I hardly noticed when involved in some fun direct action. I was lucky that way! I had some follow up issues and would never diminish or discount difficult experiences for others. But thinking in evolutionary terms can give a very positive spin which itself alone may be very supportive. Let's take a look at those whales, what are they up to? If you've been with Hadza grandmothers, you're gobsmacked by their levels of activity, confidence and expertise. It isn't uniform among hunter-gatherers, there are groups such as the Agta, where women don't often live so long. Demographic variability.

@RadicalAnthro Yeah, I was in college working on my 10-year degree (lol) when I hit menopause, so lots of brain candy to keep my mind happy and occupied.

@DoomsdaysCW in the era of Univ of East London's great proletarian Anthropology degree which we worked on, there were all these mature older women flocking to get first class degrees, good as Oxford or Cambridge, even tho they had been working class mums who left education early with a few GCSE results, not even Alevels! Of course the tuition fees and student loans put an end to it.
