Ok, so me and @squeakypancakes dug deep in the sysadmin mines to investigate the disk space issue on our server.
So it turns out the folder /var/services/mastodon/public/system/cache/preview_cards/images is HUGE. 600 GB and all tiny files so it took ncdu SO long to scan.
Does anyone know if we just delete all that cache? We ran tootctl cache clear and it did nothing.

those can be cleaned up using the `tootctl preview_cards remove` command, you'll want to run the command in `screen` or `tmux` because it will take a while to complete in your case

@kawaiipunk i did, it removed nothing. And `tootctl media usage` reports "Preview Cards 665 MB". i think this command operates on files in `public/system/preview_cards/`, not public/system/cache/preview_cards/` (which is the big directory).
@handle I know it's a wild guess and might take even longer to run, but maybe `tootctl media remove-orphans --prefix="cache/preview_cards"` could find and clean it up?
From my limited understanding it seems to scan through all of `public/system` by default, but it has an optional `--prefix` parameter to limit its search. The code in https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/lib/mastodon/cli/media.rb also appears to handle `PreviewCard` data, both inside and outside the `cache` directory.

@handle I just checked the code again for `tootctl media usage`: Apparently it doesn't check the file system at all but only reports the sum of file sizes known to the database. So hopefully `remove-orphans` can fix the discrepancy for you. Good luck!
