If you are in the US and have an Amazon Ring camera, disconnect it. The camera may be being used by ICE, by way of its participation in a Flock AI surveillance network.
Or sure, smash if it feels better.

@JulianOliver
How much time before Tesla cam cars to feed flock ai ?
@JulianOliver Oh no. A techbro product used for evil. This has never happened before.
@JulianOliver or point it at the cat box?
@JulianOliver #uspol #uspolitics cancel Amazon, boycott Amazon .. make them feel it
In the leadup to & throughout WW2, US tech giant IBM chose to be the "information muscle" of the Nazi Party, running census & kill accounting for Hitler's Final Solution.
As this shitty loop comes round at scale, tech giants once again center themselves within the white supremacy project. Rather than combine their power to fight back, the CEOs & investors of these corps *choose* to side with the hateful & increasingly lethal regime.
Helping friends & fam off #bigtech is a moral imperative.
@JulianOliver Amazon is the latest company from which I've pulled my music.
@JulianOliver Exactly why I opted for a closed-circuit system last year.
@JulianOliver Setting up a network of Ring cameras that only stream the nastiest porn imaginable, GPS spoofed to areas of highest immigration enforcement.
@JulianOliver Uhm... does this only count for ring cameras in the US, or are e.g. european rings ... "affected" as well (and taken into hugr databases)?
Oh, I feel I know the answer, but perhaps there is hope anyways............
Can the GDPR make these things illegal in Europe? 👉👈 🥺
@JulianOliver It's enough to put some tape over the camera - you can still use the audio bit.
@JulianOliver glad we're all waking up to this surveillance bs.
@JulianOliver Who would have thought a webcam connected to Amazon 24/7 would be unsecure? Y'all had to have known this would happen sooner or later right? REICH?
@JulianOliver I'd be tempted to just block its view with a sign, something along the lines of "Fuck ICE and fuck the surveillance state."
@solitha Good idea. Depending on how you can fix it, could use a technique like this, but opaque. https://julianoliver.com/projects/public-patch/
I don't have a security system, but I have a friend who uses Axis brand cameras along with Blue Iris software, as they aren't controlled by a mega-corp nor by China.
If you can run your own local instance on an old desktop or something it's probably the best way to avoid getting creeped on by governments and corporations.
