I'm building the Push Notification feature for Loops, and it will allow admins to use our EU-based relay server if preferred.
It will default to our Toronto, Canada server otherwise.
One more thing, you won't need to apply for Push Notification support, simply press a button in the admin dashboard and it will be enabled for your users ✨
@dansup Is there a way to make this future proof so notifications continue to work even if you stop paying for the relay server some day?
@grosser_mensch Yes, you would have to fork the app, create an Apple Developer account, then setup the push relay server.
Similar to Mastodon and Pixelfed!

I think Dan is talking about the server part of the notifications here, not the receiving part

@dansup @javascript @gabboman I don't know if you are aware, but a relay is only needed for iOS apps. You don't need one for web apps, and Android apps
