January 20th is, for many, a normal day.
However, we must acknowledge that a year ago today, the US saw a shift in power which has (unfortunately) rippled across the globe.
A year on, we think it's fair to say that, whilst we are still horrified by the decisions, language, and actions of the US administration (and beyond), the initial hopelessness is beginning to dissipate.
We're fighting back, finding new ways to come together, and staying strong.

I would like to read this sentence in your statement:
"We understand that the privacy of your data is of highest importance, this is why we are pushing for encryption of user data and end-to-end-encryption for private messages for all ActivityPub projects."
Whilst we don't have the funding or skillset to help build this, we are supporting the brilliant work by Bonfire and Emissary on this. They've been awarded funding through the Social Web Foundation to tackle this.
