Witnessing the legendary turquoise waters of Peyto Lake, Banff National Park 馃嚚馃嚘
Peyto Lake, its peak, and the glacier are all named after Bill Peyto鈥攁n Englishman who moved to Canada and became a renowned mountain guide and park warden. While the colors in this photo are amazing, they were partially shaped by the wildfires occurring in the Rockies at that time. At first, we were confused by the "mist" hanging in the air, but checking the fire maps of North America revealed the true scale of what was happening.
Despite the difficult conditions, the view is a testament to why this is one of the most recommended spots in the Rockies. Its vibrant glacial flour creates a color that has to be seen in person to be believed.
Practical Tip: To see the lake from this perspective, head to the Bow Summit lookout along the Icefields Parkway. It is a short, paved walk from the parking area. If you want to avoid the heaviest crowds, try visiting early in the morning. Always remember to stay on the designated paths to protect the fragile alpine vegetation surrounding the viewpoint 馃摳
