Mozilla is running a survey to see what users think about them cramming AI into Firefox. Here's my response.

Feel free to let Mozilla know what you think.

#Mozilla #Firefox #Survey

A survey asks the question, "What do you want to see from Mozilla in the future?" This is my response.

"Hi, long term Firefox user here... 28 years and counting.

The thing I loved most about FF was it's position as the least enshittified of all the browsers, a product which was built and maintained with users in mind. Mozilla was always part of team Good Guys.

Then you decided to jump onto the AI bandwagon.

I'm sure you're well-aware of the downsides of LLMs, the planet-sucking power and water demands of an industry built on plagiarism, existing in an increasingly fragile bubble fed a diet of endless money and bullshit.

As someone who has been on the FF journey from the start, I just wanted to say that you're ruining a perfectly good browser, against the wishes of the majority of your users.

Ditch the AI. Please!"

@BobLefridge
Mine:
"1st missing option in previous question: Avoiding AI (as currently practiced) as much as possible due to the harms it causes - environment, social, artistic, commercial

I want most from Mozilla in future to produce a highly performant and customizable web browser that supports powerful extension that I can choose to use.
As an organization, become independent of financing from google, meta, openai and other surveillance capitalists that don't have users interests at heart.
