Here's a closer look at where I am (orange arrow), how I got here (1 mi; green line), and the road I have not yet tried (3+ mi; orange line). The road is pretty gnarly in a few places and it took me about 30 minutes to get here off pavement. I thought I missed my turn until I looked at this map. But by then I was already parked. I don't think I'm going to move today. This spot is fine. (1/3)
I normally don't have any problems with gnarly roads. My truck has plenty of clearance, 4WD, and new all-terrain tires. But when you add a slide in truck camper, the CG shifts upwards, making it very precarious on uneven terrain. Proper tire placement through ruts and washouts is vital. Then add a cargo trailer behind it and now you have the added challenge of needing a wide space to turn around. This road is one lane for most of its distance. (2/3)
