@randahl I did prwtty much this with my iPhone and have regretted it since the moment the phone rebooted. Thanks to this experience I’ve actively avoided this mistake with the laptops, work and home.

Quite annoying, though, to close over and over the nagging pop ups.

@randahl

My POV:

UPGRADE!
Security = Up-to-date = most secure

Design:
My opinion: 35yrs as an artist using Macs for work and play, I’m mostly happy with the visual aspects of Tahoe. (I hated the skeuomorphic days).

Liquid Glass:
If you don’t like the look, you can TURN IT OFF, or aspects of it, in System Settings.
(Gary Rosenzweig’s MacMost = great place to find out how. @rosenz)

Bugs:
There’s no more than usual (still waaay too many… we miss you Steve Jobs)

@randahl I don't get it. If you don't like the 'visual appearance', why don't you change it?

@randahl I had too little memory to install the new os. I was going to move some photos to an external hard drive to make space. By the time hard drive arrived I had seen several posts like yours. I didn't move the photos. Instead, I turned off automatic updates. I'm nostalgic for the time with a standalone machine that just worked. Will the tech chiefs change course if we stop buying their cloud storage and hardware? #tahoe #iOS #thetechdontwork

@randahl The tech press and users have already warned about this for months. Before every major OS upgrade do some research about what has changed and never be among the first users. (BTW, Windows 10 is better than 11 for other reasons)

@randahl Thank you for the heads up. I always hold back a little with these major updates. Let them iron out the bugs and check back when version x.1 becomes available.

@randahl For me, it wasn’t as bad as the iOS upgrade. I’m on Tahoe.2 now and haven’t encountered any severe bugs yet. Visually, I like some details more than before, Finder to me looks nicer, crisper somehow. Don’t care for Liquid Glass but don’t encounter it often / have tuned it down. I use a plethora of different apps, productivity and creativity. They didn’t change too much.

@randahl I was tricked into upgrading - tried to update the previous system and somehow ended up with the latest. There are pros and cons, yes it’s buggy and looks crap but I like the return of coloured folders!

@rpsu There is a tip for how to avoid getting the popups on the hashtag #tahoe somewhere.

@randahl

I always delay updating for precisely this reason and try to hold off as long as feasibly possible. Let over people dance on the bleeding edge.
