#Bridgy does a lot of valuable stuff for the Open Web. I have no doubt that @snarfed.org and @quillmatiq are among the Good Guys. #BridgyFed was supposed to link ActivityPub and ATproto without being attached to any particular server on either side. But by being too connected to Bluesky in particular, Bridgy is tainted by their cryptobros policies. There's more - like Blacksky and NorthSky.

@osma I'm not sure I fully follow. I don't think we're too connected to Bluesky - all of our big announcements and workshops have been at Fediverse conferences - and I don't think I understand what cryptobro policies are embedded in our org. We tend to work closely with platforms across protocols as well.
@osma We're also actively working with emerging platforms on ATProto and thinking through bridging more lexicons to ActivityPub. Our goal is to connect these standards as much as possible and give people an exit plan to the one that works best for them, there's no lopsided work we've done thus far as afaict.

These links show up in small ways that do a lot to form impressions. Like:
@osma I think there's a misunderstanding here: we don't link to Bsky bc we're connected to them in any way, it was the only option when ATProto was added to Bridgy Fed. There are emerging options to cross-link like aturi (https://aturi.to/) that we're keeping an eye on, and have requested features we need that were already on their roadmap. At some point it'll make sense to let a poster decide where their posts link to, but there's no great way to do that today.
Also I didn't say cryptobros policies are embedded with you. I said you're tainted by them - because it is very very easy to associate your work with Bluesky in particular. As you wrote in the replies to the above, that's a choice you made while you could have made another one.
