#Bridgy does a lot of valuable stuff for the Open Web. I have no doubt that @snarfed.org and @quillmatiq are among the Good Guys. #BridgyFed was supposed to link ActivityPub and ATproto without being attached to any particular server on either side. But by being too connected to Bluesky in particular, Bridgy is tainted by their cryptobros policies. There's more - like Blacksky and NorthSky.

Love seeing interest in bridging on Forkiverse! As Olivia noted, we have a 7-day waiting period for new users to avoid spam accounts. But, we trust the good folks on the Forkiverse, so we're going to exempt the instance from that waiting period 🙂

@brettpeary @fed.brid.gy thanks!!! I have followed both accounts now in the forkiverse and bsky but I haven't received the follow backs so not sure if it's working. I also turned on bridging from the bridgy UI for bsky but can't do it there for this account yet as it's not 7 days old yet.
i'll dive into the docs in more depth tomorrow I think.

If you'd like to follow the #Disintermedia blog from your fediverse account, I just set up an actor for my blog that can followed from both the fediverse and the ATmosphere;
I'm hosting the blog on Ghost, which I thought was federated out-of-the-box. But it turns out I need a separate ActivityPub module to plug my Ghost instance into. As a stopgap, I can use BridgyFed for this.

I wrote a speculative piece, just about 2 years to the month, about Meta's regulatory capture strategy that involves an attack on #Mastodon, even as #Threads and #ActivityPub leaders were working together to interpolate.
Just waiting on Zuck to launch a timely protocol that makes it easy to migrate from Mastodon to Threads.
#Mastodon is now finally speaking out but it may be too little too late. We had the chance to reject #Meta's plan to take over the #SocialWeb but a few influential #Fediverse leaders decided for us that our future on the social web would include Meta.
Even now, as Mastodon Org speaks up, they refuse to call the enemy by name, referring to Meta as "another corporate social media platform"

There are some missing, maybe because my instance doesn't know about them (I'm getting the number via API), and #Bluesky has some more (but not much). Sadly I tagged #Lemmy/#Piefed wrong, so they could not share/like.
The most surprising part for me is how many of the accounts are bridged via #BridgyFed, it's more than one sixth as far as I can see.
I will look into the data more.

I'm admin on mastodon server A and mastodon server B.
After I move my account from A to B, can I remove the redirect and just keep using that account, with zero followers, on the old instance ?
I'm asking because the followers I have through #bridgyfed are still strictly tied to server A, so they won't migrate with all the others, and I want to keep server A for a while, to inform them to manually change, without harassing the rest of the fediverse.
