It was my intention tonight to set up a time lapse at the cabin tonight for the Aurora. But the skidoo wouldn’t start in the cold. #CabinLife #Nunavut

I used to live in a community where a snowmobile was called a snow-go.

@knapjack Here every snowmobile, no matter what make, is called a skidoo (sikatu in Inuktitut). Just like every ATV is called a Honda regardless of brand. “My Honda is a Yamaha Grizzly”

Love it.

Where my aunt lives, every soda is a "Coke-Cola" (not a Coca-Cola). So they'll say things like, "What kind of Coke-Cola do you want?"

@NunavutBirder That's a shame, but now I know what a skidoo is. Must be very, very cold!

@saarmuller -35. In the old days it would mean a lot of work on a pull cord. But now that every machine is electric start it’s a matter of warmth and/or boosting.

@NunavutBirder Thank you, still seems something that needs attention. Living in the extreme cold is beautiful but not simple.
