Advocating for #Matrix because of my desire for open systems is like trying to convince everyone how much I enjoy punching myself in the balls, with repeated demonstrations.
On iOS, Element Classic takes ages to load messages (no sliding sync), Element X is faster and now has space support, but notifications are *terrible* and people are now *phoning me* to tell me I have a message.
I鈥檓 sticking with it, because openness & bridging, but jeez, it鈥檚 hard to love. App suggestions v welcome.
@Floppy Notifications on Element X iOS should be rock solid. So something must be going wrong - please can you submit debug logs after missing some? Also, what server is this on? Frankly server problems sound more likely. (On Element X Android however there are some known problems on notifs if you don't give the app full permission to run in the bg; we're working on these).
@Floppy I just went into our admin chat having wondered why it鈥檚 been so quiet. One HUNDRED missed messages that it decided not to notify me about. Sorry.
@Floppy make sure to report bugs and see if anyone else has reported issues with notifications for the homeserver implementation your running, ele x android has been alot better personally for me for notifications and I've heard the same from ios users, could be your HS implementation your running
