With all the fuss over Jenrick, news of the appointment of a Tory multimillionaire as "leader" of Reform in Scotland was in danger of getting missed.

He's a Tory peer picked by Farage. No accountability to members (does Reform have members?) and very different views to the majority of Scottish voters (viz the NHS).

He's standing for Holyrood and will probably get in on the list.

"At present, there is no legislation which prohibits an MSP from also undertaking another role as an MP, Peer or Councillor."

Dual mandates in the Scottish parliament: consultation

The Scottish Elections (Representation and Reform) Bill was passed on 17 December. It places a duty on Scottish Ministers to bring forward regulations which prohibit MSPs from holding dual mandates as MPs or Peers, and potentially Councillors. This consultation seeks views on ending dual mandates.
