This manages to be a story about ai, surveillance, data, data sharing, migration, and so much of what is wrong with this quick to punish government and its predecessors that shared the same desire to be seen to punish.

We've seen this played out around PIP and universal credit, the Carers' Allowance, and we're about to see it again with special education (SEND) and educational health and care plans (EHCPs).
