@amoroso I think the average user switching from Windows to Linux should go with Mint.
I work at a Windows shop, and I switched to Debian two years ago (with my IT manager's permission). Most Microsoft apps work through the web fine (ie: Teams, Outlook) and LibreOffice is so compatible with MS Office that I can edit work documents right on my desktop.
For the few applications that have no Linux alternative (ie: SQL Management Studio), I use QEMU/KVM to run a Windows 11 virtual machine.
I've been extremely happy to get off Windows 11 - that is a slow, buggy and snitchy operating system!
