Took me a minute to catch up because I missed the start time, but I'm here now.
And look, maybe you should have held onto the tapes? IDK?
(Cloverfield did this better, but Cloverfield had the benefit of being after 2001. Just saying.)

I really want him to go full Leon, even though I know it's the wrong movie.
Suuuuuure...
(I'm pretty sure it took until, like, the 2000s for any of the communities affected by nuclear testing to even have it be acknowledged that anything happened to them at all.)
FINALLY! This track is a Banger. (Jamiroquai, Deeper Underground.)
I... feel like Animal is not really understanding the situation and really just wanted someone to come with him?
("It makes us look more American" and I guess by 1998, smoking does... not.)
Okay, I do not understand New York's layout and this is a problem because too many films are set in New York.
I know there are bridges to Manhattan which is an island, but uhhh... that's it.
I feel like I have been severely misled as to the navigability of New York's sewers and/or subway system on foot, because of Hollywood.
Now it's looking more iguana. (I think some species of iguana burrow.)
Not sure how this isn't destabilizing the entire NYC CBD but okay.
Okay. I gotta say this.
If web search serves me right...
...iguanas are generally herbivores. They like fruit and flowers.
And I can bet you that a couple of tons of assorted fruit and flowers would be way cheaper and have less mercury.
So, from some BTS featurettes I've seen, Godzilla was a combination of a few partial animatronics on bigature (big miniature) models, and some CG. I'm not sure what was in use for the underwater scene, but I'm going to say bigature?
I am reminded of a great bit of incidental dialogue in Mass Effect about why we don't eyeball firing solutions.
I guess the rats are still waiting for the dust to settle? I'm surprised they're not getting in on free sashimi while they can.
(Surprised they didn't try for the eggs, TBH. From what I've heard, New York rats are something else.)
"What are they doing?"
Dude. Have you not seen Alien? DON'T TOUCH THE GODDAMN EGG!!! Especially if it's making noises! Sheesh.
Someone also loved the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park. But also the T-Rex. And decided to do both at once.
...they have eyes, but sure. (Once again, iguanas are herbivores, though herbivores can and *will* fuck you up for existing near them anyway so this isn't inaccurate.)
Clever, uh, baby? I don't want to gender them.
(Again, reminder, herbivores won't eat you, but that doesn't mean that they won't bite, kick, etc you for existing too close to them when they were feeling a tiny bit overstimmed or upset.
In terms of causing injuries and fatalities to humans, I'm pretty sure cattle, sheep and horses rank way higher than most carnivores.)
OFC this being in the US, nobody has some like, apple slices or something to placate the babies with.
Okay, that is accurate that he couldn't remember the whole phone number in one go though.
Last stand alert!
That was a Velociraptor leap if I ever saw one.
Okay, the gumballs making that area into the Olympic slalom walking course is funny though. I have no idea if actual reptiles have this traction problem.
(Casual elevator gag, and it was kind of funny I guess? Sometimes it lands.)
Do iguanas eat popcorn? It's a vegetable, I guess.
Whoof, that CGI is *rough* with the reflections issues.
I could understand this now, I am told it's pretty easy to get a live stream going even from your phone, but I feel like in 1998 it would have been a lot more complicated?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I guess it would've been too complicated to cut in some of that footage of the babies.
(Is it bad as well that I thought 'yeah, they definitely didn't consider the part where there are still people in the building and potentially close by'?)
"They've eaten all the fish." They should either be in naptime or zoomies mode, and it looks like they're having some serious zoomies.
(Seriously, the tripping and falling is funny though.)
And there goes everyone's hearing.
