I asked our head of marketing if we could get off #Twitter and she said "Unfortunately Twitter is an industry standard so we have to be there."
(We are in the medical device industry. Our primary customers are hospitals and healthcare systems. We make a lot of our deals by convincing individual doctors to go to bat for us at their institutions.)
I am not sure that is true, or at least not true anymore, but I don't know how to prove it.
Any suggestions?

I have been thinking about your issue and appreciate you attempting to raise it. Today, I finally saw results from an organization I tried to persuade in 2022.

One thing you could perhaps ask is whether your company or industry has any other brand safety standards, like not advertising on tobacco content. I feel like CSAM would be on any such list.

Also, does anyone else besides this marketing director need to interact with your company’s content on Twitter? 1/n

Having to access that platform could be grounds for a hostile work environment sexual harassment claim. Now, we are not in normal times re: workplace discrimination. But HR might consider it if there is risk under state law, an accreditation, or strong company policy.

Also, consider that the marketing director, as a woman (it sounds like) has probably had her concerns about ick of various types dismissed before, because we all have. 2/3

The normalization of X up to this point being a good example. You speaking up not to normalize it is a good thing.

Our company account has less than 900 followers on Twitter. Compare that to, e.g., Philips, another company in our space, that has nearly 300,000. Literally no one is interacting with our company account. I simply do not believe that being on Twitter is in any way essential to our continued success and growth as a company.
