I now have the post from a few minutes ago, but when I click the profile I still only see that new post and the 2023 one, so maybe it's some federation thing I don't quite understand - something to do with my instance maybe not fetching older.posts? This is all new to me

@FediFollows and thanks for your link. I read your page and now understand what 'backfilling' is and that explains what's going on.

I see three posts, presumably pinned, and the new one but nothing else. The web page thing is new to me, so thanks for that too

Yeah, if you're the first on a server to follow an account it might just look blank or only have the pinned posts.

Once you follow, any account posts made after that follow will start showing up.

It is confusing 😦 For what it's worth, there is a fix for this problem currently waiting for review on Mastodon's Github page. I don't know when it will be approved, but it will allow people to see the latest posts on profiles even if they're the first to follow from a server.
