@adele Why a different address for XMPP? You can use DNS records to tell clients that your XMPP host is different from the address domain.
@raucao why not?
clearer to setup xmpp client : server = domain
@lutindiscret @raucao some xmpp client just ask for xmpp address and assume that the domain is the server. Maybe this is no more a point nowadays but I wanted to avoid this problem. And I also want to be able to move xmpp service to an other server easily.
And maybe a user would like to share his/her email or xmpp address without giving the other one. (I know it is obvious to find the other one going to message.casa site, but not sure everybody searches for it).
It is strange to always have to justify a choice
@adele @lutindiscret You don't have to justify it, I just thought maybe I can help by making you aware of the possibility in case you weren't. I don't know any clients these days that don't support our setup of having the host be on a different (sub)domain.
