If I were running #Canberra ...
I'd have a fleet of paddleboats so that workers in the parliamentary triangle could paddle across Lake Burley Griffin from Civic, whilst the main Commonwealth Avenue Bridge is having work done to it.

@troberts hold my beer, sending this suggestion to the Greens spokesperson for Transport (Andrew Braddock)
@emmadavidson @troberts The bridge works are being done by the National Capital Authority, so it really should go to the Greens federal spokesperson - Elizabeth Watson Brown. I'd hate to see this excellent idea fail because it didn't reach the right people.
@robfwalter true, and I think I know one of her speech writers. But the federal Labor political party isn’t going to buy us a fleet of paddle boats no matter how nicely the Greens ask. ACT Labor, on the other hand, sometimes has to acquiesce to the will of the people if the Greens give them a hefty shove.
@emmadavidson Ah, of course. Albanese is too conservative for a visionary idea like this.
@robfwalter you’re absolutely right!
@troberts oh! Maybe the bridge closure could have been our opportunity to have a ferry system!
Bus, Tram, Ferry!
