Because Canada is a huge country with a lot of underpopulated space, and we seem so friendly.
It would be so fucking easy to lull an occupying force into a sense of security and then slit their throats while they sleep.
Nothing could be simpler than offering to supply them coffee and pastries with a warm, polite Canadian smile and poisoning hundreds of them en mass.
@Remittancegirl Laxatives. Put OTC osmotic laxatives in their coffee or blueberry muffins. Tastes sweet, takes a couple of hours to take effect, causes SEVERE discomfort if you can't drop your pants and take a dump (gut cramps), it's going to gradually impair morale if they can't trust the food but don't distrust it so much they *have to* avoid it at all times.
@cstross And never discount the profound humiliation of shitting one’s pants. It is unmanning at a visceral level.
Also, they can’t very well nuke us, because it will waft across the border.
And finally, I have noticed that the US military have a really hard time believing anyone white and anglophone might be their enemy.
But they’d be sorely mistaken.
Not that all of Canada is white or anglophone. We have a beautiful and richly diverse society. But I do think it might present a hurdle for them, psychologically.

@EINS_Institute It’s not that I hang this on you all. It’s that I can see your apathy. I see your tolerance for him. I see your inability to truly understand what you have as a leader. Even people who are against him… most won’t bother coming out to a simple demonstration. Blows my mind.
But I know if you’re that apathetic about your own fascist dictator, you won’t lift a finger for Canadians.
Just being a realist.
