I could not possibly tell you why but I really viscerally hated The Waltons. The theme music filled me with uncontrollable rage. I wished them all ill. I cannot overstate just how much I really truly despised everything about The Waltons. Which appears to be the song playing on loop in my brain this morning for no discernable reason.

I was first trumpet in the school band, and The Waltons theme was on our concert list. I liked it only for the fact than I got the solo. 🙂
The show was tedium though.

I just accepted it as another dull torture of childhood, along with EastEnders Omnibus on Sunday & Grand Stand that seemed to go on forever 😩. And dull, black & white matinee movies from the 40s. All on Saturdays or Sundays.
I didn't mind the western's so much when I was really little as they at least had horses 😍.
At least Grandstand had a banging theme tune. The beginning! I'd never felt so alive.

I might have learned fluke it if it was attached to something I'd have enjoyed, like a day of all the most awesome cartoons 🤩. But it wasn't 😒.
@TheBreadmonkey I had a similar visceral reaction to "Seven Little Australians". When one of the kids died (belated spoiler, but who TF cares), all I could say was "one down, six to go".
@TheBreadmonkey I thought it was horrifically boring and was on at a time when something entertaining should have been on for kids, and was desperately needed.

I met someone once who called his horse "Horse". I had to ask him why. "What's the point of giving an animal a name if it doesn't come when you call it?"
He had a point I suppose.
I had uncles who always called their cats Ceefer and/or dogs Deefer ('C for cat' / 'D for dog')
