TIL a great phrase: “no pasarán!” One of the moderators on our team mentioned it as part of her 2026 well wishes to the mod team.

It basically means “they shall not pass” in reference to fascists. It had a rich etymological history, beginning in France and moving to Spain. Originating in opposition to Nazis and fascists.

@markwyner The only critique I'll give on that matter is the type of fascism described should be more akin to Christofascism (theocratic fascism), of which America has become. It's likely been Christofascist since 1776 (Catholic).

The German regime during WWII (the second spirit of Revelation according to historicists) worked with the Catholic leadership, as the church played both sides of the war. That was from what I read, so I'd recommend taking that with a grain of salt.
