Very early #OnThisDay, 4 Jan 1944, Anne-Marie Walters parachutes into occupied France to become a British Special Operations Executive agent. The SOE supported the French Resistance to Nazi occupation.
In August 1944 she escapes over the Pyrenees, and later writes a book about her exploits.
