People who still think the USA invaded Vietnam to help citizens get democracy are fools. It was never about helping people suffering. It was always about more geopolitical controls in South East Asia. Vietnam was seen as an easier to conquer via invasion violence than other ASEAN nations. We also had many seaports access.
Korea, Japan & Vietnam were all places where USA imposed themselves, violently. Many military personnel left behind many mixed race babies & many other trails of traumatic devastations. The living, never sold sold our souls out, war survivors, never forgot what the USA did to my birth nation, Vietnam.

Why did so many people in colonial capitalist countries believe that Vietnam was suffering from communism & Team America: World Police are coming to help!
Thing was - they weren't there to help. They were there to invade, try to indoctrinate & exploit Vietnamese people - while mass murdering & bombing us, daily.
People in Global North believed USA lies because they never visited Vietnam themselves & parroted USA government lies. For years. Fuck all governments who never stood up against USA invasion on Vietnam & joined them to try to mass murder more of us. I'm still here. I'm not shutting up.
The answer to my question of why :
It's because the USA government has programmed their citizens, over decades, to easily & quickly dehumanize many POC in Global South. We, South East Asians & Asians in general, are considered as less than human, by the US government & their establishment media. When we fight back against US imperialist terrorism, we are the ones that the global governments say are the terrorists. We aren't the terrorists. The governments dehumanizing human beings & ordering mass murders on us were & always will be, the true #terrorists.
