I can't find much information about the organisation behind @zenbrowser and how they make money, though. Google AI overview (the one added on top of search results) claims they've got aquired by Atlassian and sells AI tools, but I know better than to trust these summaries.

#ZenBrowser

Screenshot of Google search result with the following AI Overview text:
Zen Browser (developed by The Browser Company, creators of Arc) likely makes money through a freemium model, offering core features free while charging for advanced tools (like an Al sidebar), potential B2B team features, or perhaps through search engine deals (like Firefox's Google partnership), though their recent acquisition by Atlassian suggests a shift in strategy, with some suggesting they were struggling financially despite their innovative Al/workspace approach, relying on early adopter subscriptions for

@nocanoa I can't remember exactly, but something like "how does the zen browser make money". Difficult to reproduce, though, as the answer often changes.
But yes, it seemed to be confusing the owner of Zen as the owners of Arc.

@ahaldorsen @zenbrowser Google's AI overview hallucinates wildly. Wouldn't trust it to get it's own name right.

@ahaldorsen @zenbrowser Looks like Zen has a small dev team (https://zen-browser.app/about) and accepts donations (https://zen-browser.app/donate).

The claims about being acquired and using AI are entirely false.
