@cstross Apparently cat armour has been a thing for quite a while so it's not surprising that the mice want to gear up.

@cstross I went to art college with Jeff. He’s an incredible large-scale, mechanistic sculptor as well.

@cstross

"You get those messages on social media," says de Boer. "It's just like the big why. Why? Well, you know — why make anything?"

I think he's missing the point.

And dog armor, of course. It's an arms race.

This was on display at the Higgins Armory Museum in Massachusetts before it closed.

@cstross I'm a little sad that mice never get to wear them! (And I can't quite believe that he's never tried.)

Also, 3D printed top hats for sea urchins:

Newsweek

Why Are These Sea Urchins Sporting Cowboy and Viking Hats?

An aquarium owner noticed his sea urchins covering themselves with rocks and other objects, so he started 3D printing goofy hats. But a marine biologist confirms that sea urchins are making more than fashion statements.

@cstross Sometimes you think, you've seen it at all, and BAM!

Thank you very much, and I wish you a great start into the new year! And then an even better new year!
