Fun exercise thinking about U.S. states I would live in or not or somewhat ambivalent about.

(There are a number of states I've never been to, but I know enough about various regions to know I am *very biased* in favor of the West Coast!)

@jaredwhite

I’m with you on most of those.

That said…

Wyoming has very few people, which is a bonus right off the bat. And, if you live in Laramie… the Colorado front range is just a few hours away. (I lived there)

If you go to montana… you’ll probably like Missoula the best. Bozeman is also nice but too far “inland” for my taste to live there.

North Idaho is a great place to visit. Not sure I’d want to live there these days tho… But Coeur d’ Alene is nice.

@philsplace I do like North Idaho, but I just can't handle the political vibes in that state and it somehow feels very isolated. re: Montana, I do like the area west of Missoula and the town there is pretty cool.

I haven't been to Wyoming/Colorado yet…on my bucket list!

@jaredwhite Mine is kind of similar:

States/Districts of the US I'd live in:
Absolutely: Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Michigan
Willing: Hawai'i
Maybe: California, Alaska, New Mexico, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine
Reluctantly: Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania
Never: Everywhere else

Not American here but yeah my map would look a bit like that as well. An ambition of mine is to live in Oregon for a while.

@TheJournalingFrog I hope you get to do that! One of the coolest things about Oregon is you can plop yourself down almost anywhere, drive for an hour or two in any random direction, and it's almost guaranteed you'll find all sorts of breathtaking places to explore. Even in CA and WA, which are awesome states, I can't claim that's the case.
