My #Gnome wishlist for 2026 (no order):

- Remember Bluetooth state across sessions
- Better integration with recently/most used files and favorite folders
- Better navigation of search results in the overview
- Type ahead in Files again
- Completing the work on background apps
- Faster Software
- Auto-dismiss notifications after a while
- Better, consistent keyboard shortcuts & gestures
- Session restore
- Stable Gnome OS for the masses 😊

What's yours?

@forteller mine is primarily just this: remember window size and position of applications.

It is soooo annoying not to having this feature ever since I switched from Windows to Linux like two years ago.

Might be a Wayland thing, or mutter or both. No idea, but it is just frustrating having to move apps/windows to their designated monitor over and over again every single day🙄.

@forteller Basically only that one:

And a modern mail client
Everything else on my wishlist is not in the hands of GNOME to change.

@fabiscafe So a scrollable tiled desktop? I guess you've given Niri a try? 😊 https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri

@forteller It's not like niri. It's tiled in a unique way, more of a mosaic tiling with a lot of respect to window sizes and app-developer-set expectation.

@forteller Don't know if this is related to @gnome or something else in the distro, but better or natively customizable keyboard compatibility with my MacBook (and other) keyboards is the only thing I'm really missing.
