"The visual design and experience of using #GNU #Linux
One of the reasons Iโ€™ve enjoyed using GNU/Linux this first year is the quality of the visual design of the user interface as well as the fact that I have a choice to change that design. I had a bias and expectation coming in that I would be settling for something of less quality than what I had assumed was an #Apple advantage. Which brings me to the historical and biased belief amongst Apple enthusiasts..."

@dennyhenke I have been loading various Linuxes on my 2012 MBP and I think Mint Cinnamon is going to stay. I am a firm believer in the global top menu from macOS though! You can fake it a little but it's support is inconsistent among linux applications.

@davebauerart
Have you tried KDE Plasma with the Global Menu Widget? I have not but it apparently offers the option to do exactly this. It's number 4 in the list in the linked article.

@dennyhenke I did but it seemed to be hit or miss and if it was going to be inconsistent I figured I'd just roll with the default instead. KDE also was inconsistent on scaling on my Retina display so I tried a bunch of other distros along the way!
