Here's the version of the door I landed on last night. There are two layers of the grates, a darker silhouette behind the gold bars, but because of the camera angle and existing materials I couldn't really find a way to get it to contrast nicely and still read as a void. I don't have a fresnel or outline shader but the metallic doorknob gives a similar kind of effect. #gamedev
