unless your _IP address_ lives in the UK, as the UK now has poorly-worded laws that could endanger our mod team there.
@alice @wheresalice @FediGarden fully understand the stance of the mods on lgbtqia.space but the bottom line here is that this push by @fedigarden fails to make it clear anybody with a U.K. IP address (ie everybody in the U.K.) is NOT welcome. It’s shitty promotion and undermines @fedigarden advice.

These kinds of laws are unfortunately popping up all over the place.
I don't have the resources to regularly check all the IP statuses for every country in connection to all the 100+ servers listed on fedi.garden. (In some countries it is regional laws which makes it even more complex to check IP statuses.)
I'm just one person doing unpaid volunteer work, and I also run four other accounts and four other websites helping people use the Fedi.
@FediGarden @alice @wheresalice We all make mistakes. If there’s a fault here it’s whoever put “all welcome” in the server description when that’s demonstrably false and then adds insult to injury by presenting those not welcome to a lecture and peddles right wing trash about “loss of freedom of expression in the UK”. I would generally give “right to reply” but I’ve already wasted too much time on this so I’ve blocked the whole server.
