Polka dot plants have leaves that range from white to green with splotches of light pink to bright red color. The leaves are waxy and have fine hairs that line the leaf edges. Polka dot plant flowers are a bright magenta and trumpet-shaped with a large upper petal that curls back on itself roughly halfway down the petal, a similar but smaller petal below that also curls back on itself, a long magenta stamen that extends out from the center to well beyond the curls petals and ends in a dark anther covered in tan pollen, and a long thin magenta pistil that runs along the bottom of the stamen and ends in a bifurcated stigma that curls back just in front of the anther.
