Great news from the EU today!
This is huge for securing the human right to healthcare and living without fear for everyone who can become pregnant, and the people who love them.
It's also a great day for civil society and activism: this is the formal adoption of a citizen's initiative started by a large group of organizations!
The lesson you should take: Find an organization that does good work, and become a member today!
This citizens' initiative was able to collect 1.12 million signatures across the EU.
Fantastic!
But in 2012-13 an initiative seeking to ban abortion collected 1.72 million signatures!
Horrifying.
The forces that want to take your rights and freedoms away are well organized, and great at gathering support. Do not forget that your voice matters! We have to organize also! Join organizations to give them more resources to do more work and reach more people!

@forteller Hell yes, the ladies of @myvoicemychoice deserve a big round of applause for being real pros and surgical about how EU Citizens Initiatives should work (not naming names about others that were just blatant pre-election email farming schemes). And a round of applause also for Liberal MEP 🇪🇺 Abir Al-Sahlani for being their voice in the European Parliament.
