though every word was actively repelled from my being, i gathered from that last scene that there is some large sum of money to be made in hypnotic soul jailing but there is an ethical hypnotist who refuses to launder the reputation of soul jailing hypnotists because it sets the scientific field of hypnosis back by generations #monsterdon
taking a wild stab at the plot here: there are dueling hypnotists, a good one and a shady carnival soul jailer one, orbiting a bit sum of money to be made in Big Hypnosis and the attendant merchandising and so on. Then there is also the spirit of femininity manifest in an ancient sea monster that the carnival hypnotist is trying to channel into this women who he has soul jailed. And then they are going to... uh... #monsterdon

so in the movie, if you go back far enough in someone's prior lives, at first it's all fun and games where they speak in a funny accent, but eventually their mind splits and their prior lives just get fully reconstituted and resurrected, piloted by the psyche of the hypnotized person #monsterdon
scene change? SCENE CHANGE?!!! everyone just saw a woman transcend time and flee for their lives from a murderous sea monster and you scene change???? #monsterdon
so the good hypnotist is now convinced of time travel hypnosis, and the two hypnotists are buds, and the conflict in the plot just comes from how the soul jailer hypnotist is addicted to summoning a murderous sea creature through this woman #monsterdon
