@eff As an Australian, today has been Day 1 of living under the tyranny of the social media ban for under-16s.
We need proper regulations to tackle the root issues that are harming children, not this garbage.
Hope that the legal challenge goes well I guess.
@eff my local Lemmy instance requires a photo of self with username written in cardboard either;
- drinking a beer at a pub
- driving a car (taken by the passenger, of course, not a selfie).
Even this is discriminatory to non-drinkers and non-drivers, and those of us who don’t have any friends to take the photo.

My kids can't access basic services online due to strict age verification. As refugees, we already face so many barriers. This feels like another wall.
