Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The #ActivityPub protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesn’t make any sense even.

When I use #Pixelfed, I do that to see pictures only. That’s the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like #Mastodon.

@thoralf heh, this is the same argument that can often be read for Webmentions and the Indieweb. No, it is not required to show anything received - or even acknowledge it.

Many clients don't implement all features seen on the Fedi. Like direct messages. That stuff is also silently dropped. Others don't support CW. Or emoji reaction. This is fine.

I'm also happy that my timeline isn't swamped by default with Lemmy posts, Pixelfed galleries or PeerTube videos btw. It's nice that it *can*.
