Sad to hear that Adam McNaughtan has died - singer, songwriter, founder-member of Glasgow Uni Folk Club, English teacher and organiser of famed Rutherglen Academy ballad club.

His Jeely Piece Song was a frequent fixture of my childhood, as I assume it was for every other Scottish wean of the past six decades. I never met him, but from how I've heard his friends speak I know he was a fond friend and treasured presence - and an absolute folk legend!

A black and white photo of Adam McNaughtan standing in his bookshop, which he ran after being a teacher. He is smiling at the camera as he holds up some large papers in front of him. He is older here, with white balding hair and a white beard. Behind him are shelves of books.
