Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities ♿

On social media, it's important that we consider how disabled people interact with their digital community and make their voices heard.

Something as simple as adding ALT text to your images, or being mindful of ableist language, can help disabled people feel more welcome in this space.

We know it's a long way from perfect, but we want to help the Social Web feel welcoming to all.

An estimated 1.3 billion people experience significant disability. This represents 16% of the world’s population, or 1 in 6 of us."

@newsmast Claiming that adding alt text is simple is a bit ableist. For some, typing each letter takes effort.
