The United States presented a Russian made peace plan that in the long rung would turn Ukraine into a new Russian vassal state, right on the border of the EU; and then Trump said, Ukraine was required to sign the plan before Thanksgiving.

Not one EU leader has had the courage to stand up and say, this US administration has now sided with our enemy.

Not one.

How are we supposed to defend freedom, when those in charge close their eyes to a direct frontal assault happening in broad daylight?

@randahl I'd argue that EU leaders successfully coordinated with Ukraine to frustrate the Russian 'peace plan'.

Whoever leaked the Witkoff conversation played their part as well.

Zelensky himself changed tactics after that infamous White House meeting. He no longer speaks frankly to the US administration, at least in public.

It simply doesn't benefit Ukraine when Vance or Witkoff are allowed to drag everyone into the mud.

@randahl well, Trump does not like the EU at all, because a strong EU could be a counterweight to his ideas and 'manners'.

Apart of what we are seeing, I think there is tge slow and careful understanding that the US in its actual state is surely not a friend. Just consider that most if not all the intelligence community in the EU don't share all the data with the services in the United Staates.

Personally, I would have loved after Trump's first term to see a much stronger and more united EU.

@randahl Palestine "peace" plan is much worse and likewise nobody bats an eye.

@randahl

Well, we in the UK are still in the throes of a Russian influence canpaign that has brought us Brexit and Farage.

And, yes, no politician from the traditional UK parties is prepared to call it.

Oh and an influence campaign by US evangelical racists and tech bros (in so far as any of those categories are distinct.) And #labour is certainly not going to call that.

#Starmer remains, essentially, a coward.
