Juggling With Eggs

Does the rest of the UK media care about the bigger picture of #Trump threatening to sue the #BBC ?

It’s got to the point now that the BBC lawyers are so twitchy they won’t even report on their own self censorship.

The star of this year’s Reith Lectures has been edited against his will about Trump’s open corruption…and now BBC journalists are banned from quoting him.

“If #BBC journalists are not allowed to mention a sentence in a story about censorship, then the problem is far bigger than one line in my lecture.

That is precisely the dynamic my first Reith lecture describes: institutions censoring themselves out of fear of those in power.

It’s essential that the British public learn who made this decision, when, and on what grounds. I was told the decision was made because of US lawyers. But lawyers don’t make decisions. Leaders do.”
